"Cilka's Journey" by Heather Morris

Cilka's Journey is the second book in The Tattooist of Auschwitz series written by Heather Morris. Published October 2019, it is a New York Times Bestseller and available all over the world.

This heartbreaking novel follows Cilka during her time in Auschwitz and at a Siberian Work Camp.

After the liberation of Auschwitz, the Russians sentence Cilka to 15 years of hard labor for "sleeping with the enemy." Cilka did what she had to do to survive. Now she must endure, yet again, terrible living conditions, disease, and hunger. But it's not entirely awful. Along the way, Cilka experiences love, kindness, and friendship.

I did not want this book to end.

Morris's writing style was simple and elegant. Her descriptions were detailed, and I have a clear picture in my head what was happening in the story. Her writing compelled me to feel multiple strong emotions throughout the story.

The story was very organized, and I felt that the story had a clear beginning, middle, and end.

I absolutely fell in love with Cilka from the very first page. Her character development was natural, and I was cheering for her the whole time. The other characters in the book were just as loveable, despite their situation.

My favorite part of the book was Cilka's experience as a nurse. Even though that section was the longest in the book, the reader gets to see her grow up with her fellow inmates.

My least favorite part was the ending because I wanted to read more about her!

I give Cilka's Journey 5 out of 5 stars for its amazing storytelling, loveable characters, and engaging plot. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a heartbreaking story of bravery, friendship, and love. If you like this story, then you would enjoy The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris.
